Dak Prescott had a shaky 2022 season that will be most remembered by his league-leading 15 interceptions despite the QB’s five-game absence early in the year. Here, we have everything you need to know about the Dak Prescott 2023 fantasy outlook.

His down year is sure to have a negative impact on his dynasty rankings and fantasy football projections moving forward. But could it make him a sleeper pick?

The major fantasy football outlets have already released QB dynasty rankings for the 2023 season, and we’ve got Dak’s spot on those lists below. As far as regular fantasy leagues are concerned for the coming year, FantasyPros has Prescott ranked 9th among QBs and the No. 82 overall player.

Analyzing Dak Prescott’s Dynasty Rankings

An important thing to remember about dynasty leagues is that a player’s future potential is a key factor. Prescott will be 30-years-old and entering his eighth year when the 2023 season kicks off.

Because of this, Dak is more valuable in single-season fantasy leagues. For that league type, Fantasy Pros lists Dak as a tier 2 QB with players like Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence.

But when it comes to dynasty leagues, FP puts Prescott into tier 3. Joining him in that group is Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson, Tua Tagovailoa, Trey Lance, Kirk Cousins and Daniel Jones.

Why Did Dak Struggle Last Season?

Prescott’s down 2022 season was caused by a few factors. The first was his Week 1 thumb injury that knocked him out for five games.

But before the season began, the Cowboys dealt Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. In 2021, Cooper had the second-most receiving yards on the team and was tied for the most touchdown catches.

By doing so, Dallas put greater responsibility on CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. Lamb stepped up and was a certified WR1 last year, but Gallup struggled coming off surgery on a torn ACL.

Some of the blame rests on Dak’s shoulders, too. Too often did he force risky passes that turned into interceptions. This was especially apparent in Dak’s two-pick performance in the Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

What To Check Before Drafting Dak

One thing to take a look at before selecting Prescott in a standard or dynasty league is what the Cowboys roster looks like going into the season.

Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz were key contributors last season, but both are free agents. What Dallas decides to do with each player is sure to impact Dak’s upcoming season.

The Cowboys may also add RB and WR depth through the 2023 NFL Draft and free agency. If Dallas can give Dak more offensive firepower to work with, it could make the QB a sleeper heading into 2023.
